Mary Joanne Summers, 75 of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Thursday April 25, 2019 at her home. She was born December 16, 1943 in Knox county, Missouri. On February 14, 1959, she married JC Summers.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Jc Summers; infant son Rory Clayton Summers; her parents, Warren Gretzinger and Anna Mary Williams and brother, Jimmy Williams.

She is survived by her children; Marlene Ferguson (Derald) of Lincoln, NE, Evan Summers of New Orleans, LA, Jana Schnitzer (Brian) of Lebanon, MO and Colin Summers (Betsy) of O’Fallon, MO; twelve grandchildren; Tayler, McKenzie and Maggie Ferguson, Avery, Grayson and Aidan Summers; Emily, Sara, Bennett and Mollie Schnitzer; Jack and Laney Summers and two great daughter Quinn and Emersyn Lindholm; brothers, Wayne Gretzinger and wife Wanda of Buckner, MO, John and Vicky Williams of Kirksville, Mo; sisters, Patricia Osborne of Kirksville, MO and Connie Williams of Columbia, Mo.

Joanne loved her family and blessed to spend her years as a homemaker. She enjoyed many things in life such as flowers and gardening but the things that gave her the greatest joy in her life were entraining family and volunteering in her free time.

A service to celebrate Joanne’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Hamilton Street Baptist Church.

A Visitation with family is scheduled one hour prior to the service.

Internment will be held at the Highland Park Cemetery following the service.

I am do sorry for your loss. Your mother and dad were great people/friends. Got to spend a little time with her a couple weeks ago..I will never ever forget either one of them. So many happy memories.

Joanne was always a pleasant and friendly person! She always had time to speak and visit with you. I always liked seeing her at church. She will be missed.
