Obituary

On Friday, March 20, 2020, the second day of Spring, Dolores Jane Berry passed away. Dolores was born in Sullivan County Missouri on May 1, 1936. Her parents were Lowell and Neva Irelan who preceded her in death. Her parents raised her on a dairy farm in Green City, Missouri in a Christian home and that is where her love for country life and close family began.

Dolores went to school near Green City Missouri where she learned to love reading and writing. As a child she wrote poetry and stories. Dolores was artistic and had many hobbies throughout her life. She loved drawing, horseback riding and all animals. She trained and showed horses for many years and had a wall full of first-place ribbons. She also trained and showed dogs, a hobby she especially loved. She took in many stray dogs and cats throughout her life and had a love for anyone or anything that needed a home. In her later years, she learned to develop websites and enjoyed sharing her skills with anyone who would ask.

Dolores was a member of the Hartford Baptist Church and a devoted Christian throughout her life. She was a dedicated mother to her children and a devoted wife. She was always cooking for her family and created many original dishes that are still being replicated and enjoyed. She was an amazing seamstress and sewed for the whole family. You would see her work each Easter Sunday as the girls all wore pretty dresses and the boys matching shirts to church. She gave to her family in every way she could. She was a devoted daughter to her mother as there was never one morning that they didn’t call each other to start the day. Dolores and her sister were very close and also spoke on the daily.

Dolores is survived by her husband of 60 years, John David Berry. They were married January 25, 1960 and together built a loving home and family. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Karen and Lanny Crawford and her sister Kendra Stuppy. Dolores is survived by her five children, Diana Rodgers, Teresa Casey, John Summers, Cheryl Tucker and Kevin Berry and two stepdaughters, Lisa Cassity and Tina Berry. She was preceded in death by her stepson Jeffery Berry. Dolores was a grandmother to 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

A visitation with family is planned for Monday March 23, 2020 at the Hartford Baptist Church in Hartford, Missouri from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A service in her honor will follow at 3:00 pm with Jeff Harlan officiating.

Dolores wishes were for cremation to follow the service with inurnment in the Union Cemetery at a later date.

Due to the COVID – 19 pandemic, and the current recommendations for social gatherings, we will be
implementing a few guidelines for upcoming visitation and service.

We ask if you do not feel well that you please stay at home or if you have a weakened immune system please stay at home.

We ask that you use the North entrance of the church only.

We will be broadcasting the service via 89.9 fm radio. You can park your car outside of the church and listen to the service. You must be in close proximity of the church in-order to tune into the service via radio.

We will also be broadcasting the service live.

We ask if you do not feel well that you please stay at home or if you have a weakened immune system please stay at home. We ask that you use the North entrance of the church only. At visitation we may be limiting the amount of people in the funeral home at one time, this is excluding immediate family. This would mean you may need to wait outside for other people to leave before coming inside. -The guest book may also be signed online or by calling 660-265-6425 and asking our staff to sign the book for you. The CDC also recommends to practice social distancing, to not shake hands, or hug. This is especially hard for us to ask of people coming to a visitation or funeral, but it will help keep you, the family and our communities safer. We will be broadcasting the service via 89.9 fm radio. You can park your car outside of the church and listen to the service. You must be in close proximity of the church in-order to tune into the service via radio. We will also be Webcasting the service
